Teams and Roles
-
Executive
Our Executive Branch consists of our Impact Team, our ReStitch Team, and our Head of Internal Affairs. The Executive Branch is run by our Chief Executive Officer. The heart of our education is within the Impact Team, and the center of our circularity is within our ReStitch Team. Impact does all of our calculations and educational content. ReStitch runs our free mending service and upcycling projects. Our Head of Internal Affairs maintains our inner administration, working on our ongoing hiring cycles and team cohesion.
-
Operations
Our Operations Branch consists of our E-Commerce Team, our Sales Team, and our Inventory Team. All members of REUSE participate in Operations, working at sales, inventorying, or collecting donations. Operations is our largest branch and is led by our Chief Operations Officer. Our E-Commerce Team runs our online store through collecting donations, inventorying, photographing, and uploading items deemed sellable online. Our Sales Team runs all of our sales, including pop-up partnership sales and Farmers’ Market sales. Our Inventory Team collects donations, sorts them into external donations and sellable items — and then all sellable items are inventoried and priced. Associates in the Operations Branch work across all three inner teams.
-
Finance
Our Finance Branch consists of our Head of Development and financial associates. The Finance Branch is headed up by our Chief Financial Officer. All members of this branch work on administrative financing like budgeting, savings, and taxing. Our Finance Branch also conducts analysis on our sales and pricing systems to keep our organization accessible.
-
Marketing
Our Marketing Branch consists of our Head of Social Media and marketing associates. The Marketing Branch is headed up by our Chief Marketing Officer. All members of this branch work on social media, promotional materials, monetary donation campaigns and communications materials — this includes, but is not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and our monthly Newsletter.
Hiring System
REUSE hires every semester. All processes include an application and interview. All higher level positions are hired internally, unless stated otherwise during the hiring cycle. For regularly updated information on hiring, follow along on our socials.
Associates are hired in September and February.
REUSE is systematized to allow for consistent promotion of our dedicated volunteers with accessibility across all teams.
Associate: We hire associates each semester. Below are descriptions of associate positions we hire for.
Operations Associate: Associates on the Operations team will support inventory and sales efforts. On the inventory front, these associates will work with the Head of Inventory and Inventory Manager to collect and expand our donations, organize donation events, and sort and inventory our donations. These associates will contribute to weekly collecting, sorting, and tagging of REUSE inventory. On the sales front, these associates will work with the Head of Sales and Pop-Up Manager to prep for and run REUSE sales, at the Farmers Market (Wednesdays) and at other pop-up events. Once hired, operations associates will each be given a schedule for set weekly shifts, with flexible emphasis on inventory versus sales shifts depending on preference and availability.
Marketing Associate: Associates on the Marketing team will support social media and e-commerce efforts. No prior marketing experience is required, as all associates will receive necessary training, particularly in Adobe. For social media, associates will work closely with the Social Media Manager and CMO to create content to promote REUSE and increase customers and funders, particularly for Instagram and LinkedIn. For e-commerce, associates will work with the E-Commerce Manager and CMO to photograph REUSE inventory, write item descriptions, upload inventory to REUSE's sales page on our website, and coordinate pick-up/delivery of e-commerce sales. Marketing associates are also expected to attend at least one sales or inventory shift every week.
Finance Analyst: Associates on the Finance team will work with the CFO to track all REUSE financial transactions, create income sheets and expense reports, analyze financial trends, and present financial analyses to the Board and the organization writ-large. These analyses will be used to inform REUSE's financial strategy. No prior financial knowledge is required, but strong analytical skills and willingness to learn are critical. Finance analysts are also expected to attend at least one sales or inventory shift every week.
ReStitch Associate: Associates on the ReStitch team will work with the Head of ReStitch to facilitate REUSE’s garment repair system. They will collaborate at weekly mending meetings dedicated to sewing garments submitted for repair. While previous sewing and upcycling experience is preferred, sewing workshops will be provided as part of the onboarding process [please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions about your experience]. ReStitch associates will also work closely with the Operations team to coordinate garment collection and returns, particularly by tabling at sales events. Associates are expected to attend at least one sales or inventory shift every week.
