This Year’s Annual Partner: Washington Parks For People
REUSE is thrilled to announce this school year's annual partner to be Washington Parks & People. Washington Parks & People's mission is to grow city-wide, park-based community health and justice through innovation and partnerships. Parks & People leads greening initiatives across the city to help revitalize our parks and world for justice alongside our communities. These efforts include massive land reclamation, native reforestation, watershed restoration, public health and fitness programming, urban agriculture, and green job training. Guided by our Impact team, leadership selected this organization as a local group aligning with our values of sustainability, inclusivity, circularity, and accessibility. We look forward to this partnership and joint impact efforts.
Past Annual Partners
2024-2025: Rachel’s Network
Named in honor of Rachel Carson, whose work spurred the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, Rachel’s Network is a community of women committed to a safer, healthier, and more just world for all. Their work supports funding for projects dedicated to issues like regenerative agriculture, environmental health and justice, conservation, and climate change. Collectively, the network is a dynamic community of sounding boards, allies, and friends who work together for a better world.
Our Contributions
$550+ in financial contributions from our sale profits. Our financial donation supports their efforts to provide environmental education, accessibility, and equality.
Panel Event: REUSE hosted an educational event with our annual partner Rachel’s Network, in collaboration with Georgetown’s Earth Commons and Office of Sustainability. The panel featured 4 environmental justice advocates, and brought together 45 attendees (including 23 non-REUSE members) to discuss careers in environmental law, policy, research, and justice.
2023-2024: Alice Ferguson Foundation
Founded over 70 years ago, the Alice Ferguson Foundation supports environmental education in the Potomac River Watershed for thousands of students, teachers, and citizens each year. Over 8,000 students participate in their Bridging the Watershed program, taking them to national and state parks in the Potomac Watershed where they learn hands-on about watershed preservation. They also host trash cleanups in the DMV area that 10,000 volunteers participate in.
Our Contributions
$370+ in financial contributions from our sale profits. Our financial donation to the Foundation supports their efforts to provide hands-on environmental education.
River Clean Up: REUSE joined the Alice Ferguson Foundation for their bi-annual Potomac River Clean Up on April 6, 2024 at the Piscataway National Park in Maryland.
Tree Planting: Two of our founders, Brooke Hodge and Stephane Granato, joined the Foundation for a Spring 2024 tree planting commemorating the anniversary of their founding.
Thank you to our partners for their continued support!
